Davies
Biography
Pianist and composer, Zachary Davies is a first-class music graduate of King’s College London where he is also an associate. During his undergraduate degree, he studied piano performance at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor John Reid. He is currently enrolled on the MMus in composition at King’s.
Zachary began taking piano lessons as a young child with Alison Holford and fell in love with the instrument as a teenager, eventually passing his ARSM diploma with Distinction aged 17. Over the years he has participated in lessons and masterclasses with renowned pianists and pedagogues, such as Charles Owen, David Syrus, Alexandra Dariescu, and Penelope Roskell. Zachary has performed in St Bride’s Church and the Guildhall, as well as the Bull’s Head Jazz Room, Ronnie Scott’s, and the Budapest Jazz Club.
Zachary is a long-term student of the Taubman Approach, studying primarily with Robert Durso and the Golandsky Institute.
As a composer, he writes regularly for soloists and ensembles, and has studied with Ed Nesbit, Thomas Hyde, and Samuel Andreyev. In 2020, he founded The Euterpean Podcast, a platform that has welcomed guests such as Darius Brubeck and Benjamin Zander. When not musicking, Zachary is a volunteer translator (French to English) for ATD Fourth World and practises Shotokan Karate, in which he is a second-degree black belt.

Teaching
The Taubman Approach
Zachary teaches piano in London and online. Lessons are based on the Taubman Approach to piano technique. Although lessons are centred mostly around classical music, he also teaches jazz and improvisation up to intermediate level.
Lesson Fees
Concessions are available for music students. There is a surcharge of £5 if travel is required.
